How To Install Peel & Stick PVC Floor Tiles (Self-Adhesive Vinyl Planks) On Concrete?

Self-adhesive vinyl tile install on concrete flooring can provide you with a durable, inexpensive floor that comes in a variety of different styles and colors. Vinyl tiles can be laid directly on a concrete subfloor, but you should follow some steps to apply self-adhesive vinyl tile to concrete properly. Proper self-adhesive vinyl tile installation ensures years of enjoyment of your do-it-yourself project. Now follow us to learn the basics of how to install peel and stick vinyl tiles on concrete.

Now for install the peel and stick vinyl floor tile on concrete you'll need a couple things:

• Tape measure

• Chalk line

• Pencil

• Flooring knife

• Tile roller

• Baseboard molding

Follow the steps to apply self-adhesive vinyl floor tiles to concrete floor:

Step 1 - Prepare The Room and Concrete Sub-floor

The first thing you should do is prepare the room for installation. To do this, you must take any existing floor on the concrete. We should also remove the baseboards or quarters around the outside of the room. To install vinyl tile on concrete, you will need a completely flat subfloor. If there are variations and bumps in the concrete, you may need to smooth it before starting to install. This can be done with self-leveling compound. Apply the self-leveling compound to the floor and allow it to dry before proceeding any further. Step 2: Plan The Layout of Self-Adhesive Vinyl Tiles

Measure the length and width of the room. Mark the center point of each wall with a piece of chalk. Place one end of a chalk line at the center points of two opposite walls. Draw a line through the center of the room. Repeat the process with the other two walls in the room, dividing the two lines in the center of the room in two. Check the center point to make sure the lines create 90 degree angles, dividing the room into rooms; adjust the lines as necessary so that the center crossing mark consists of four 90 degree angles. The point where the two lines intersect in the center of the room is your starting point. There are currently four quadrants to work with.

Step 3 - Start Laying Self-Adhesive Vinyl Tiles

You are now ready to begin installing the peel and stick PVC tile. Place a vinyl tile in the center of the room, surrounded by one of the 90 degree angles. Remove the back of one of the self-adhesive tiles and place it in the center corner of a quadrant. Press the tile firmly down so that it fully adheres to the floor. Tiles place along the outside line of the first quadrant in the same way, and then lay tiles inward toward the walls. Continue laying tiles, working from the center to the walls of the room. Fit the tiles tightly against each other, making sure the tiles line up with each other to create straight columns and rows. Laying whole tiles on the floor until you reach the edge of the room, where a partial tile is necessary. 

Step 4 - Cut Self Adhesive PVC Tiles For Applying The Edges

When you get to the edge of the room, we need to cut the tile to fit, with a 1/8-inch gap left between the tile and the wall for expansion during weather changes. To do this, you must use your tape measure to determine what part size you will need. Then measure the appropriate distance on the back of one of the vinyl tiles. With a straight edge and a knife, you should be able to cut the tile to fit. Or you can use this way to cut the right peel and stick vinyl tile to fit the wall edges: align the side edges of the loose tile with the edges of the installed tile so that it is on top of the tile perfectly installed. Place another tile on top of the loose tile, lining up the side edges and splicing the second loose tile against the wall. Trace the end of the second loose tile on top of the first loose tile. Cut the first loose tile on the line with a sharp knife. Take your time so you can get a smooth, straight cut on the tile. 

Step 5 - Lay The Cut Self Adhesive Vinyl Piece To Edges

Then take the cut piece and put it in place along the wall. Remove the back of the cutting tile and place it between the wall and the tile that was working again. Repeat this process for the last tile course around the perimeter of the room. Continue doing this until all the tiles are in place. 

Step 6 - Press The Tiles Firmly Onto The Concrete

With a tile roller to press the tiles firmly onto the concrete when tile laying is complete. Roll across the entire floor surface, concentrating on the tile joints to get as much of the tile adhesive pressed against the floor as possible and to remove air from between the tiles and concrete. 

Step 7 - Install Skirting Board To Complete

Place the skirting board on the tile and back against the wall to complete your flooring project. The skirting board that completes the flooring installation can be vinyl or laminate. The vinyl has a specific support and the laminate is glued with mounting adhesive.
